Folk Music and Its Various Origins

Hello again the World!

This is a Blog about Folk Music, but more specifically the "Geography" behind folk music, It's unclear where exactly music originated, but it is generally accepted that music has been around since prehistoric times, and probably evolved from the sounds of nature that early humans heard, for example; some of the earliest musical instruments found are flutes made from animal bones, possibly to mimic the sounds of birds that prehistoric humans heard.

As society and religion developed, music became more associated with different churches, in ancient Greece music was used during religious ceremonies and was associated with the Gods. It also began to be performed for entertainment, in Greek Plays there was usually a musical number where the cast would sing. The same can be said about music in ancient Rome.

After the fall of Rome and Europe's descent into the dark ages music didn't become lost it remained not only as a form of entertainment for the nobles but also as outlets for the local serfs and peasants.

Music is something that's natural to human kind, we can see this because music developed in both europe and America without contact between the two. Modern folk music is a combination and mismatch of all different kinds of music because of the easy freedom of information around the world.

Hello Chaps!
Anyway, this blog is part of an assignment for school where our whole class has been told to go set up and post to a blog about the Geography of a certain object or culture, I decided to choose Folk Music because it's my favourite music genre and I'd like to find out more about it, but mainly because I really had to choose something by the end of this class and I was getting short on time so I wrote down the first thing that came into my head...But I really shouldn't get into that.

Anywho, Posts to follow and all that!
